1st Robert Froehlich @ 70 net, 2nd Rusty Silverman tied with 3rd place winner Lonny Rakes 71 nets, in a scorecard playoff. Jason Foster in for the Atta Boy at 73 net.


Flight B top 3

1st Steve Richter @ 68 net low score for the day, 2nd Dan Bengtson 2nd @ 69 net was the next lowest, and in a 4-way tie at 73 nets, Doug Walsh was 3rd, Lloyd Snively and Doug Patterson shared the Atta Boy in a scorecard playoff.

VGA Special Events

VGA’s 2026 Special Tournament Schedule for VGA Members:

The Board of Directors is notifying the membership of the VGA’s 2026 tournament schedule.  We encourage all of our members to make advanced plans to attend.  There are 6 club-sponsored tournaments over the next year, including:

  1. Club Championship – To be held in early October in Green Valley.  The tournament pays $1,000 per flight for 10 places ($2,000).
  2. The Tournament Players Open – To be held at Gold Canyon the weekend after Memorial Day, May 30th and 31st.  The tournament pays $600 per flight for 10 places ($1,200).
  3. Wigwam Trifecta Wednesday to be held during the summer on the following dates:  Round 1 on May 6th – Blue Course, Round 2 on July 29th – Gold Course, Round 3 on September 9th – Red Course.  Tournament pays $400 for 5 places.
  4. Wigwam Trifecta Saturday to be held (during the summer) on the following dates:  Round 1 on June 13th – Gold Course, Round 2 on July 13th – Blue Course, Round 3 on August 1st – Red Course.  Tournament pays $400 for 5 places.
  5. Ringers Wednesday to be held 3 times @ Aguila Golf Club on the following dates:  Round 1 on January 21st, Round 2 on March 18th and Round 3 TBD. Tournament pays $500 for 5 places.
  6. Ringers Saturday to be held 3 times @ Encanto Golf Club on the following dates:  Round 1 on January 31st, Round 2 on April 4th and Round 3 on November 21st.  The tournament pays $500 for 5 places.

Greg Nash designed Union Hills’ 18-hole traditional golf course. The course has four lakes and two creeks incorporated into the design. The fairways are average width, and some of the greens are elevated. The signature hole at Union Hills is #14, a 360-yard Par 4, requiring a carry-over water.

Eric Neilan 1st @ 70 net, Steve Laveirge 2nd @ 72 net, and George Kowalchik @ 74 tied with Don Majors who got the Atta Boy in their scorecard playoff. Kenny Baca shot the only good Birdie for $87 double more than any other player got. Well done Kenny and all the Flight A players.


Flight B top 3

Neal Fisel 1st @ 69 net and the lowest today score well done Neal. Randy Thomas 2nd @ 75 net. and Charles Falcone 3rd @ 75 net and tied by Doris Page who copped the Atta Girl in their scorecard playoff.
