The Foothills Golf Club truly represents what desert golf should be and caters to both power and course management-minded players. The par-72 Championship, links-style course, was designed by internationally acclaimed architects Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish.
The Foothills Golf Club stretches to almost 7,000 yards with lush rolling fairways, blue lakes, and 65 bunkers set against the rough rocky desert terrain. With four sets of tees, The Foothills Golf Club has appeal for golfers of all skill levels and has earned a four-star ranking from Golf Digest, along with being listed as one of Phoenix’s top golf courses.
Twas a three-way tie for 1st place. Neal Fisel, Doug Rankin, and Mark Matthews all had 67 nets. Neal got 1st, Doug got 2nd and Mark was third in the scorecard playoff. Well done guys. Tom Willis scored the Atta Boy at 71 net. Tough Greens today seems everyone was missing putts they don’t usually miss. Rest of the course was pretty nice so were the greens just tough. Rest of the field’s scores click here. On a sad note, our past President and among the founding fathers of VGA Don Peterson passed away today suffering for several years with ALS disease. There will be some type of service but his wife Barb said it will awhile. She will let us know when it is. VGA sends condolences to Barb and the entire Peterson family and friends. Tobin Peterson (son) and Bob Peterson (brother) are members of VGA also.
