The Legacy Golf Club, rich in heritage and history, is an 18-hole par 71 championship golf course designed by renowned golf course architect Gary Panks. Located on what was once Dwight B. Heard’s 7,500-acre ranch, the golf club is rich in Arizona heritage and history. Taking great pride in preserving and integrating many of the historical structures and monuments, our 18-hole championship golf course offers a unique look and an added opportunity to experience some Arizona history and of the Heard legacy, from which the golf club takes its name. The original two-grain silos, built in 1902, still remain along the 18th fairway and were once the tallest structures in Maricopa County. The Sierra Vista House, which marks the 1st tee, was visited on occasion in the early 1900’s by Theodore Roosevelt and Pancho Villa. Come make your own history at the Legacy Golf Club!
Legacy Scoring
Rich Perry playing within himself scored a 65 net for 1st place today at Legacy. I was in his group today and must say what a great and friendly gentleman he is. Well-done sir. 2nd place goes to the Legend of Legacy, Dan Clark with a 66 net. Al Dan comes in third with a 67 net. Phil Weidemann and Larry Burton both scored 69 nets to split an Atta Boy right down the middle, what sportsmen they are, they didn’t even want a scorecard playoff. On a personal note, I hope none of you experience the plight of losing your ball in the middle of the fairway on your best drive of the day as I did today. Believe I must have hit it around 260 yds and when we got down there we could not find it. Only one place we hadn’t looked was a drain pipe about the same size as a golf cup which didn’t have any kind of a cover on it. It was kind of grown over with grass and appeared deep. Warren knelt down and went into the hole up to his elbow and pulled out my ball. My thought was to ask Fred for a Hole in one call, but the group said he wouldn’t count it. My first 260-yard hole in one did not count. Still had about 75-80 yards left on # 16 anyway. Fun experience though. Worked out ok.
